In January 2003, Victor Film Company was acquired by the Caparo Group and re-launched as AV Pictures Ltd with Angad Paul as Chairman and Vic Bateman as Managing Director. Since the formation of the company, AV Pictures’ role has expanded from international film sales agency to also incorporate co-financing and production.

The company has a strong track record in creating value for its buyers, by clearly focusing on delivering commercial product across all genres, and by championing break-through talent, such as Scott Mann ( The Tournament ) and Neil Marshall ( Dog Soldiers ), directors who have continually proven the potential of new talent to deliver theatrical thrills from independent productions.

The AV team contains a wealth of experience, understanding and contacts from across the industry, including Sales, Distribution, Exhibition, Production and Development. The team is focused on creating value and service to its buyers and producers.

AV is now leveraging its market understanding and relationships to guide its development strategy, focused on creating new content that has the strength to shine through increasing entertainment choices and platforms.

The company library encompasses a range of genres with titles including Black Water, Best Laid Plans, Daylight RobberyLesbian Vampire Killers, Truth Or Dare and The Tournament. 

Recent AV films include multi-stranded time-tripping romance Jump which screened in Official Selection at the Toronto International Film Festival 2012 to fantastic critical and audience acclaim; urban horror Comedown; action road-trip The Liability starring Tim Roth ( Grace of Monaco, Pulp Fiction ) as a veteran hitman and Jack O’Connell ( 300: Rise of an Empire, Harry Brown ) as his novice driver; and uplifting documentary Mission To Lars, an inspirational life journey featuring rock legends Metallica and t wo siblings filming their attempt to fulfil their brother Tom’s dream of meeting rock God Lars Ulrich in a tale which is both funny and touching.

On the current AV slate are sci-fi thriller Scintilla starring John Lynch ( Sliding Doors, In the Name of the Father) which will premiere screen at the AFM in November 2013. The all-out horror carnage of Let Us Prey stars Liam Cunningham ( Game of Thrones, Hunger ) and Pollyanna McIntosh ( Filth ) and tells the tale of one fateful night when an enigmatic stranger arrives at a remote police station to collect the souls of the damned. The film is currently in post-production and AV will present the first Promo to buyers at the AFM.

AV will launch the latest addition to their line-up at the AFM – No Man’s Land is a horror tale set in the trenches of World War I where the English troops encounter an ancient race of blood-thirsty subterranean creatures far deadlier than their human adversaries.

In addition, AV’s gangster collection of movies continues to grow with Gangster Playboys Retribution, currently in post-production, and a worthy addition to the prequel Gangster Playboy Legends.
