BALLY’S CASH SPIN AND ONLINE GAMBLING

Attendees of the Gaming Technology Summit in Las Vegas last week selected Bally Technologies’ Cash Spin slot machine for the “Attendee Choice” award in Casino Journal’s 2009 “Top 20 Most Innovative Gaming Technology Products” awards competition.

Cash Spin was also one of the top three award winners out of 21 finalists, winning the Silver Award.

Cash Spin, with its U-Spin gesture-control technology, has been on a winning streak, taking home the “Best Slot Product” in the Gaming & Technology Awards at G2E last November; a 2010 Casino Enterprise Management Slot Floor Technology Award; and now two of the top awards in the “Most Innovative Gaming Technology” competition.

“We knew Cash Spin was special from the moment we saw the first prototype, and since its launch in April we have not been disappointed,” said Gavin Isaacs, Bally’s chief operating officer. “We have been installing Cash Spin nationwide at a pace that exceeds Hot Shot Progressive, which until Cash Spin had been our most successful game. And Cash Spin is delivering outstanding performance for gaming operators, attaining more than three times house average.”

Cash Spin is a groundbreaking gaming device that features proprietary U-Spin gesture-control technology that enables players to spin a virtual wheel on the game’s display just as if it were an actual physical spinning wheel.

The game, on Bally’s highly successful ALPHA Elite V32 slot platform, also features Bally’s Interactive Reels (iReels), allowing the game to be played both as a video and as a reel-spinner at the same time.

“Finally, an adaptation of touch screen and interactive reels, along with a wheel – what’s not to like?” said Slot Floor Technology judge Chuck Hickey, vice president of slot operations at Barona Resort & Casino.

What sets Cash Spin apart is the massive, brightly colored spinning wheel which occupies two-thirds of the video display above the mechanical reels. In the bonus round, the player actually spins the wheel on the screen – up, down, slow or fast – and the wheel reacts just as if it were an actual physical wheel. This realism is further enhanced by true-to-life sound effects mimicking the “clack clack” sound of a physical wheel slowing down.

This special U-Spin touch-enabled high-definition LCD senses both the pressure and speed of a person’s hand gestures as they slide their finger across the wheel, thus providing a new level of player control and interaction.

Adding to the excitement is Bally’s Interactive Reels (iReels) technology, which enables unique graphic animations to “float” in front of the reels during bonus rounds, while the video overlay fades into the background during normal game play, allowing the mechanical reels underneath to come to the visual foreground.

Another key feature of Online Gambling Cash Spin is its “U-Spin Bonus Bet” of 15 credits times bet per line, which makes players eligible for the U-Spin Wheel Bonus Feature without having to bet max credits.

“Cash Spin was hands-down the hit of last year’s Global Gaming Expo,” Isaacs added. “Based on the high level of operator excitement about this technology, we are optimistic that Cash Spin could become the most successful game ever produced by Bally in the Company’s 78-year history.”
